The ITF W100 Bengaluru Open at KSLTA, Cubbon Park, was more than just another tennis tournament – it was a chance for me to give back to the Indian Tennis Daily (ITD) community. This volunteer-driven platform works tirelessly to promote Indian tennis worldwide, and I was proud to contribute my skills pro bono to their efforts.

Supporting Indian Tennis Through Photography
As an Indian sports photographer, my mission extends beyond just capturing images—it’s about elevating the visibility of Indian athletes on the global stage. My schedule was packed, with other assignments like the ISL match between Bengaluru FC and Odisha FC cutting into my availability. Despite this, I managed to spend three action-packed days at the tournament, covering matches featuring Karman Kaur Thandi, Zeel Desai, Riya Bhatia, Sahaja Yamalapalli, and Ankita Raina. Each of these players brought their unique energy and grit to the court, making it a privilege to document their journeys.

Creative Experimentation on the Court
While I focused on capturing editorial-worthy shots, I also found time to experiment creatively. The extreme highlights and shadows on the court provided an opportunity to push my boundaries and create some dramatic frames. These moments reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place—the endless possibilities for storytelling and artistry.

Tournament Results: Highlights and Key Moments
- Karman Kaur Thandi: Making her comeback from injury, Karman faced tough competition but showed glimpses of her top form.
- Zeel Desai and Riya Bhatia: Both players had challenging matches, with Riya securing a memorable win on Day 1.
- Sahaja Yamalapalli: Sahaja’s inspiring run ended in the quarterfinals after a hard-fought match against Sara Bejlek.
- Ankita Raina: Delivered a thrilling victory in her early rounds, giving Indian fans much to cheer about.
Being part of a tournament like this, even for just a few days, reinforced my belief in the importance of supporting our athletes and shining a light on their incredible efforts.
